The Hasty Pudding Theatricals of Harvard University is excited to announce that Tim Robbins and Catherine Zeta-Jones are the recipients of the 2005 Man and Woman of the Year awards. The Woman of the Year festivities will be held on Thursday, February 10th. At 3:00pma

,the Woman of the Year will lead a parade through the streets of Cambridge, MA.

Following the parade, the President of the Theatricals, Matt Ferrante '05, and the Vice President of the Cast, Sam Gale Rosen '06, will roast the celebrity and present her with her Pudding Pot at 3:30 pm in the Hasty Pudding Theater. After the roast, several numbers from our 157th production Terms of Frontierment will be previewed at 3:55 pm and a press conference will be held at 4:20 pm.

On Thursday, February 17th, Man of the Year will take place. The producers of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals, Romina Garber '06 and Charles Worthington '06 , will roast the winner and present him with his Pudding Pot at 8:10 pm in the Hasty Pudding Theater, prior to the start of the opening night performance of Terms of Frontierment . A press conference will be held immediately after the roast at 8:30 pm.

Background

The "Man and Woman of the Year" awards are presented annually to performers who have made a "lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment." Established in 1951, the "Woman of the Year" award has been granted to many notable and talented entertainers including Meryl Streep, Katharine Hepburn, Julia Roberts, Jodie Foster, Meg Ryan, and most recently, Sandra Bullock. The "Man of the Year" award was established in 1963. Its past recipients include Clint Eastwood, Tom Cruise, Robert DeNiro, Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, Anthony Hopkins, Bruce Willis, and last year, Robert Downey Jr.

This is the last year the Man and Woman of the Year awards will be celebrated at the historic Hasty Pudding building where they have taken place annually since their conception. The landmark 12 Holyoke Street theatre that has housed the Hasty Pudding Theatricals since 1888 is to undergo a major renovation, which will begin in April 2005.

Catherine Zeta Jones first captured international recognition in The Mask of Zorro . Since then, she has captivated audiences and won an Oscar for her role in the hit film Chicago . Zeta-Jones was nominated for a Golden Globe and took home the 2002 Critic's Choice Award, the 2002 Screen Actor's Guild Award for “Best Supporting Actress,” and the 2002 Academy Award for “Best Supporting Actress” for her performance in Chicago . She has also starred in The Terminal , Entrapment , America's Sweethearts , and co-starred with George Clooney in Intolerable Cruelty . Zeta-Jones earned a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of the wife of a drug-runner in Traffic . Most recently, Zeta-Jones starred in the international blockbuster Ocean 's 12 . Upcoming she will be seen starring in The Legend of Zorro , due for release later this year.

Tim Robbins is a talented actor, director, and producer who has been involved in countless Hollywood projects. He gained national acclaim for his starring role in the 1994 hit film The Shawshank Redemption . He went on to portray Dave Boyle in the 2003 film Mystic River . This performance won him a 2004 Oscar for “Best Supporting Actor” and a 2004 Golden Globe Award for “Best Supporting Actor.” Robbins has appeared in many major motion pictures including The Truth About Charlie, High Fidelity , Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me , Code 46, and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy . He is also distinguished behind the camera, having written, directed, and produced several motion pictures including Dead Man Walking and Cradle Will Rock . Upcoming, he will appear in the 2005 Steven Spielberg sci-fi thriller War of the Worlds .

The show opens on Man of the Year, Feb. 17, 2005, and runs until March 20, 2005 in Cambridge, performing Tuesday – Thursday at 8pm, Saturday at 4pm and 8pm, and Sunday at 3pm. HPT 157: Terms of Frontierment then travels to New York to perform at Hunter College's Kaye Theater March 25 and 26 at 8pm, and then at Hamilton City Hall in Bermuda, March 30 – April 2 at 8pm.
